Thanks for the post girls, I have been slack as well. My diorama for the
Fireman's stomp is coming along nicely, and I'll have it for the next meet,
also to return the cases to the Great Peter.
Should get to the comp this evening and upload your meet report if not then,
Sunday, (sorry too busy).
Just checked out S@H and we are there....YES..

I just realised that nobody has reported on our last BUGs meeting held
at Mark Harrison's place on Sunday 23 Sept. So, here's a quick rundown
...

The theme was "things mechanical" and Mark had laid on a display of
"super cars through the ages" from his vast Technics collection, showing
the historical progression of the large Technics car. As always, the
earlier vehicles were clunkier in appearance but used more general
parts, whereas the later models were sleeker but used more specialised
parts.

Aaron brought along an apparently endless selection of fire engines, and
wore his Fireman's uniform to complement the theme.

There were a number of space and aircraft MOCs with everything that
opens and shuts, a certain familiarity of colours shows that Star Wars
sets have found favour with the local MOC builders.

Mel was particularly slack and didn't bring anything along! However, she
swears she is in the middle of a very large project, hopefully to be
revealed at our next meeting, assuming we can find a means of
transporting this megametropolis (being Mel, my money is on a Town
theme).

Hahahaha :)  Funny stuff!  I am indeed in the middle of a largish project,
let me call it... 'Project Secret Mel' lol.  I dunno about being a
megametropolis though... it's approx the size of 6 baseplates.  I'd love • to
see some of the ideas people would come up with, in guessing what it may • be!
Kerry... I hope you have lots of money :P j/k

I was almost as slack as Mel, having done virtually no Lego building for
some weeks. However, I got up very early that morning and build the
AT-AT from the Dark Side Developers Kit. This is a Microscout-based
model, that walks back and forward shaking its head as it goes. It was
the first time I'd built it, and I was impressed at how well it walked.
Or to put it another way, my attempts at building walking robots have
been far less successful. I also had my photos of Legoland Windsor with
its models of European towns and landmarks.

Lunch commenced with a entree of junk food (chips and chocolate
biscuits), followed by a main course involving hand-to-hand combat with
a large fresh loaf of bread. And we finished with a dessert of pizza.
The National Heart Foundation awarded the meal "-100 out of 10", but it
seems to go down a treat with the BUGS!

Roll on the junk food!

After lunch, we did the traditional buy-sell-trade session. As always,
Peter Parsons had space items to tempt us and Aaron seems to have an
inexhaustible supply of Res-Q sets to pass on. Incidentally, Aaron is
still in the market for more airtanks for his fireman. He is also still
hoping someone will buy his Silver Champion (only one careful owner!).

There were rumours of experiments with the first Brisbane Brickwars
after lunch, but Mel and I escaped at that point, as Mark had revealed
that there were huge piles of discount Powerpullers at Mr Toys Toyworld
stores in the CBD, and I had only 1 shopping hour to get myself one. Mel
decided to come along as it was a rare opportunity for her to shop
without the assistance of small children. As it turned out, there were a
number of attractively priced sets at Mr Toys Toyworld, or maybe the
buying frenzy was upon us. Whatever, we seemed to leave with a lot more
than we had set out to buy :-)

Attractive prices indeed... hence the reason there are no more of that
particular set on the shelves anymore :P

Anyhow, to finish up, thanks to Mark once again for his hospitality and
the tours of his vast Lego den, now rather more organised than at our
last visit.

*bows down to Mark*, yes thanks a bunch Mark and family and cat whose tail
has been ran over numerous times :P MEEEEEOOOOWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLL!!!

And finally, anyone else who was there, please mention all the things
I've doubtless forgotten.

I think you did a great job Kerry!

Kerry

Mel (who pulls up her slack slacks :P)
