With the catalogues, The crocodile engine I have came with one of these
catalogues, and I have several others that also have this.

As to the older sets, I think it was last year that I found a few 6347
[monorail accessories] at the clint's in Meadow Heights. These were selling
for $12.95 each, but had torn boxes. Another toyshop that occasionally has
older stock is Tates Toy Kingdom in North Geelong. I got my Crocodile engine
there last year for $90. They seem to get the odd older item in, as I think
they are high on the distribution list for older/clearance sets from other
toy kingdoms that are closing down. [Unfortunately, when I got the
crocodile, We were hoping to get the 6989 that had been sitting on the shelf
there for a few months[years], but we hadn't had the money for :( ]

Also, Are there any other toy-worlds other than Craigieburn which are
waiting for this years lego to appear? [All they have received so far has
been a catalogue (1 copy for the shop), which they were convinced to give to
a customer. I provided them with 2 copies so they'd know what was going to
be [hopefully] available, but it is not good for a company like lego to let
stores go for several months without a rep visiting, or sending in a range
of sets.]

The dealer said that he used to own a toy store but had to close down.
They did have one or two other smaller sets, but i didn't
really note them down
as my attention was elsewhere. But you know the standard
range of crappy
plastic toys, but there were some other stuff too. He pointed
out a wooden
Train set that he claimed collectors paid over $120 for him for.

Judging by the plastic bag he gave me, they're Importers and
distributors of
toys from Hong Kong. The catalogues on the sets were
bilingual in English and
<insert Asian Language>. I don't seem to remember lego
catalogues that we got
in our sets ever being in any language other than English, so
I'm guessing that
these sets were imported from overseas.

I asked him if he had any other Lego Items and he said he'd
have a look at the
remainder of the stock he had. I'll check back next week to
see if he's come up
with anything else good.

My gut feeling is that there is a stock of a whole lot of
Older Lego being held
somewhere in Australia. In 1996 I was in "Clints Crazy
Bargains" in Parramatta,
and they had a huge stack of 4551's for $50 and a stack of
12V Automated
Swithing Rails for the trains. A very unusual find. I chased up some
information as to how they got all these. Turns out that some
buyer/distributor
must've got a delivery of them cheap off Lego Australia, and
then sold them
onto Clints who then sell it in their stores.

Therefore there must be some other process going on about the way Lego
Australia get rid of excess older stock that we haven't
really found out about.
It would be good to know where these items go. There was
discussions at Legoz.2
about how we'd be willing to pay to take older Lego Off LA's
hands than for
them to destroy them. Perhaps these buyer/distributors are
applying the same
priniciple.

Thats one of my theories anyhow. Perhaps others may know a bit more.

Hey guys,

Just got back from Parklea Markets. Was on the mission to • purchase some nuts
and dried apricots, wehn i was going past a trader selling toys.
Using my super-human vision, I was able to spot the Lego symbol.

To cut it short.

This is what picked up:
4549 - Road 'N Rail Hauler
4547 - Metroliner Club Car
4551 - The Crocodile Locomotive

Boxes were opened, but all bags sealed and all • stickers/pieces were there.

Yay :)

Excellent find Santosh. I thought places like Parklea would • be useless,
especially for any trains. What sort of other goods did the • guy carry,
I mean in general, not just a Lego sense.
I have a 4551, but I'm sure someone local will want it (at $80 too).
Just as long as it doesn't find it's way across the Pacific • ,as much as
we love them :^)
