Don't miss out on the Slave 1 (with Boba Fett) for $21!!

Having recently acquired one of these at a bargain price a month or so ago
(courtesy of Toyworld Robina and Aaron Coghill), I finally got around to
building it today.

I can't say the model thrills me too much. The mechanism for keeping the
wings horizontal is its most interesting aspect  (uses the same
axle-through-the-Technics-beam technique as the B-Wing's cockpit). The
simple hatch to the compartment for storing the slab of Han Solo must rate
as its least interesting aspects. I mean, you open the door and, as the
compartment faces downwards, out falls a slab-of-Han. Yawn! I can't see
myself rushing to build this one again.

However, at $20, it's worth buying for the parts. Lots of green and brown
slopes. And a minifig without a face, admittedly with an elaborate helmet.
How common are minifigs without faces?

I've also been thinking about alternative uses I might find for the
slab-of-Han. So far, I've only come up with two ....

... a Town MOC entitled "Tragic Accident kills Road Engineer" featuring a
large bitumen-rolling vehicle driving along with slab-of-Han in its wake
suitably surrounded by other black tiles. Hmm, is this the kind of thing I
am supposed to build for our forthcoming  Town-themed BUGS meeting?

... a Castle MOC entitled "Dinner at Frank N. Furter's" using slab-of-Han
(or perhaps side-of-Ham) as the tabletop ... (strictly one for the Rocky
Horror fans, you creatures of the night!)

(...) Most of them were cleared out pretty quickly, early in 2000: I think you'd be lucky to find one now (unless you asked Pete really really nicely). Don't miss out on the Slave 1 (with Boba Fett) for $21!! --DaveL (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au)
