James, with your level of ability, I think you should be looking at the
Robotics Invention System. I think you would find the less sophisticated
Droid Developer or Robotics Discovery systems to be quite limiting. The RIS
is really the only way to go if you want to build anything reasonably
sophisticated.

If you are interested in the RIS (9719), then Myer Pacific Fair is
selling them for $315 which at 20% off is only $252. With a Coles Myer
shareholder discount, it's only $226.80.

I believe this sale runs to about mid-October (end of next week?). If you
are interested, I could order/pay for one over the phone (using my Coles
Myer discount) provided they haven't sold out.

(...) Dick Smith online (www.dse.com.au) has the Robotics Invention Set for $298 (that's come down a bit!), the Ultimate Accessory Kit for $105 and the Vision Command for $169, as well as the other Mindstorms type kits. Not sure if these prices are (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
