"Mr L F Braun" <braunli1@pilot.msu.edu> wrote in message news:39892EAA.BF50F2...msu.edu... (...) As far as I'm aware, that wasn't a problem, as steam ships were pretty damn thin on the ground back then. Coal was used for heating and furnaces, (...)   Re: New newsgroup lugnet.sports for Football/Soccer

In lugnet.football, David Low writes: <some really good descriptions of different Aust. football codes snipped> Nicely explained, thankyou! I was hoping someone would explain it in more detail, I am really out of my depth with anything other than (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.sports, lugnet.loc.au)

Re: New newsgroup lugnet.sports for Football/Soccer

(...) Expanding on this point: In Australia "round ball football" is called Soccer universally. It is very popular with schoolkids and there is a national competition (see (URL) ). There are three other codes of football that have a major following (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.sports, lugnet.loc.au)

Re: New newsgroup lugnet.sports for Football/Soccer

(...) Yes. (...) Yup, it's soccer. Football possibly refers to Rugby in some parts of Aus, but generally football refers to AFL which is a different game altogether. (...) Yes, but I don't think Lego Australia think for themselves in matters such as (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.sports, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: GPSP -- $22.45

(...) Gungan Sub's RRP is about $135. TRU usually has it for a bit less, KMart regularly has it (and the Mos Espa Podrace) for 50% of RRP (if you can still find one there). James found the Sub at Target for $37.45, which is unbelievably good value (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

(...) I'd always been under the impression that the grade of coal in the exposed seams wasn't quite up to RN standards (they only want the best anthracite, have to keep that smoke down to a minimum!)--but I may be wrong, because I'm going off the (...)   Re: Help wanted with old UK catalogue [long and contains most text/in fo from it.]

Ben, You just described the UK 1966 Catalogue. AFAIK it was available free from toy shops from approx April 66, but was not included in any sets (except _maybe_ 050 and 060); hence it is one of the more difficult to find.   Re: New newsgroup lugnet.sports for Football/Soccer

(...) Aha!! Interesting! OK, hmm, so, OK, can we back up a bit? So, what you're saying (taking both of your posts into account) is that: 1. The official name of the LEGO product line in Australia is "LEGO Football" and not "LEGO Soccer," and 2. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.sports, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: GPSP -- $22.45

(...) Ok, I'm impressed! Thanks Pete. So what's that Gungan Sub worth? Doesn't look to be as good a set for parts as the Sith Infiltrator but I've now got hubby interested in the SW sets! :) Deidre drb@tasmail.com (25 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)
