Having 10 children to buy for (aged 0 to 13), I tend to stock up whenever
the prices are low (and the stores are empty of people -- I hate doing my
Christmas shopping at Christmas). So I just happened to be in K-Mart at Mt
Ommanney here in Brisbane a few weeks ago, and noticed they were "clearance
pricing" the last sets of some of their older stock (mostly with
shelf-damaged boxes). There wasn't anything to my own taste, but a lot of
stuff I thought suitable for kids gifts (since kids destroy the boxes
anyway, the condition of the boxes hardly mattered), so I started popping a
few in the trolley.
Once my resistance was weakened by those first sets going in, well, a few
more sets went in, then a few more, and then the buying frenzy was on
full-swing . Anyhow, I left the store with enough Lego to provide me with a
huge cache of birthday and Christmas presents to cover the next year or so
...
In the frenzy, a few other items not earmarked for specific kids managed to
insert themselves in my trolley, one of them being the aforementioned
Podracer with its must-have banana peels :-)
