Hello, I'm new.  Sadly not that kind of new, just new to the au site.  Am I
supposed to sign up or something so that our numbers increase dramatically by
one?

GDay! and welcome.
Signing up? depends where you live. If you're in the Sydney region you might
want to know about our next meeting in August (location to be confirmed)

Hello No.2, If your in Melbourne there is a meeting planned for mid-July and
hopefully the other state capitals may get something happening.

Why does BIG W sell off Lego at half price occasionally?

? I didn't konw they did, unless you mean the small impulse sets they're
trying to get rid of.

Are the Lego deals offered to World Club members a good idea and a good deal?
Why isn't everyone a member of World CLub?

I'm not a member, why? money, I don't need to pay to get 6 issues telling me
thing I know showing off creations thrown together. I don't know about offers
and so on, this may be the one thing that persuades me to join.

What is a good price to pay for Lego through the paper?  It seems to be
$10.00US per pound on EBAY?

Depends what set are in the collection, which is related to how old, how much
is being asked and what condition it's in. At a guess AU$2-$5 a kg.

Your correct, on ebay it does average out at $10US a pound for system stuff,
basic blocks are probably cheaper here.

I find ebay to be less expensive including exchange and shipping charges.  Am
I naive and not informed about better and cheaper ways to get Lego to
Australia.  (I recently received a 6097 fright knight set for $40.00US, when
it was over $132AU at my local ToyWorld.)

Bulk deals always offer good value, but you take the chance of getting a
double of a set you already have, unless you don't mind that.
6097 here did get down to around $100AU at some places, but a lot more
expensive at RRP here. But you can certainly get sets for better prices,
seeing that sets get released earlier in the US and therefore go on special
earlier.

Yes US prices are cheaper although Ebay price depends a lot on (perceived)
rarity. It's the shipping that kills though.

Thanks for any input.

No worries, post regularly, we're trying to be more talkitive than the
italians.

keep on posting, we want a LUG in every state.
Do a roll call if you feel like it, just some basic questions, do a search
on roll call in loc.au and it will show you the format.
