This is the first I have heard of this site.

Not surprisingly it looks a lot like ebay, although I notice a couple of
interesting differences.

Firstly, not much stuff seems to actually sell there. Almost all the
auctions I saw had no bids. Admittedly I didn't see anything worth buying
myself.

True...but then again, if it's only starting up (as referral bonuses seem to
indicate) then that's pretty understandable. [1]

Secondly, they have feedback on a finer scale -- Excellent, Good, Average,
Bad, Never deal. Which might be potentially interesting.

Seems quite useful...AND you can adjust your feedback upwards. So if you have an
NSS, you set it to never deal. Then, if you get a reasonable explanation, and/or
item arrives, you may upgrade it to bad, average, good or excellent. I'm not
sure how often you can upgrade though.

Third, it seems to be an Oz-only site, so no support for other currencies,
just the AUD.

Which isn't too bad...no annoying exchange rates or accidentally bidding on an
item thinking it's in $Aus, when it's in $US.

It claims to have 46K members and 100K+ listings, but frankly it all seemed
a bit quiet and sleepy.

True...But hopefully it will pick up...

Also, I signed up mid-late last month and got member number 35970, so obviously
people are signing up at a reasonable rate.

Any first-hand impressions on using it as a buyer or seller? What's its
appeal? I noticed no listing costs.

Kerry

Buyer...bought from someone who Victoria Police are now treating as having
"obtained property by deception".

Other than that it seems OK.

As far as selling...verification isn't too bad, then:
FREE to list.
AUTO relist if item not sold
Auction extended by 1 minute if bid received in last minute...may cut down on
sniping.
It's possible for remaining time to be hidden which also would cut down on
sniping. ("bid now"...not to be confused with "buy now")

Sale fees:
$0.05 - $3.30 $0.10 flat
$3.31 - $100.00 3% of sale price
$100.01 - $500.00 $3.00 + 2.5% of sale price over $100.00
$500.01 - $1000.00 $13.00 + 2% of sale price over $500.00
Over $1000.00 $23.00 + 1.5% of sale price over $1000.00
Maximum sale fee $30.00

[1] Should anyone wish to sign up (free), I would be quite happy if they were to
say that member 35970 (or username b_whytcross) referred them [$0.50 referral
bonus for me :D ]

Hopefully this helps,

Benjamin Whytcross
