I think this is a case of 'we put the sets in the catalogue...kids will
expect to see them...price is too high...if we drop the price on these,
maybe kids will return to lego, as it's now "cheaper" to buy, and these will
act as starter sets for kids intrest'. [though, if this is true, why were
the extra train sets ONLY available from LA, and for that matter, why didn't
they LET PEOPLE KNOW..they've got the world club they could use to notify
us.] [speaking of the world club...I seem to remember that on a UK in-box 1
page promo for it, they get a 'gift pack' when they join, and 5 (6?)
magazines a year...as well as special offers. Shows TLG's commitment to the
Australia/asia region up to now (and I'm not holding my breath over LD
either)]

Also, I don't know if it will happen...but MAYBE when (if) LD is available
down here, they'll just have 1 price worldwide which will be translated into
each countries currency, and postage will be added to this...maybe this is a
trial run? [It would be nice to be able buy lego a a comparable price to
what it costs in the US...at the moment it feels like we (the rest of the
world) are subsidising them]

Anyway, just my 2 cents [no GST applied :) ]

Why is Lego subsidising these? (Olympics perhaps?)
and more importantly. HOW is Lego Australia susbsidising
this? I don't think
the shipping out here can be subsisdised by suddenly manufacturing it
themselves.

And why then isn't everything "subsidised" ? Although I guess
this is a
general question that can apply to just about any product.

Perhaps its one to ask on the letter

Hi,
I went into Wollongong Mall this morning to see if any of
the stores had
the Lego Soccer sets. To my great delight and surprise, the
David Jones had
ALL of the soccer sets.

An even greater surprise were the prices! The 3409's were
only $54.95!!!
All the other sets were similarly cheap. So, run, don't walk
to your local
DJ's if you want these sets. (Just don't bother going to • Wollongong. I
cleaned them out of their two sets. They'll have to order
some more in. :)

later,
David Drew.
