Hi everyone,
I was doing some thinking the other day (dangerous stuff!) and I had a bit
of an idea concerning Mindstorms custom sensors. I am capable of designing
and producing such custom Lego sensors and was wondering what the Australian
demand for such products is, along with what sensors people would like. A
couple of things that I quickly came up with are:
Differential light sensor - Outputs the difference between the two on board
light sensing elements.
I/R Proximity detector - For sensing objects and maybe even a rough distance
to them.
Magnetic sensor - Detects a magnetic field and outputs it as an analog signal.
LEDs - Good old light emitting diodes set up so that it changes colour with
polarity.
If you have any other bright sensor ideas let me know. But before I venture
into such a venture, I need a decent amount of interest so if you think
you'd be keen on buying custom Lego sensors then let me know and tell me
what type you'd want by emailing zac_soden@hotmail.com
I will post some finer details and prices once I decide whether to go ahead
with it, but I'd expect costs to be well under $45 with most of it depending
on the internal complexity of the sensor.

| (...) venture (...) Zac, In my observation, one of the biggest users of Mindstorms in Australia is the Robocup Junior, a schools competition (which appears to get quite competitive at times). There are a lot of schools involved (more than it appears (...) (21 years ago, 18-Apr-03, to lugnet.loc.au)
