I applaud your thoroughness, however, regarding the following passage:

Surely for the purposes of a complete test, and the public demand nothing
less, you could have replaced the rare brown one with a common or garden
grey one.

| (...) But of course that would be a case of using "non" aircraft parts on an aircraft! Having worked on aircraft for 8 years I can tell you that is a little bit of a no-no (only a little bit, as fencing wire 'was' considered ok on early planes, ie (...) (21 years ago, 30-Aug-03, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.loc.au)
