Proceed with caution. If this actually provides an outcome it will be great!
Especially if it leads to offical communication between two parties.

On that note I'd say we need to start formalising things from our end too
wouldn't we?

Perhaps we should wait and see how "formal" LA are willing to be with us.

My opinion?: so be it. We all start posting to loc.org.au • instead of loc.au,

(Yes too long a week, luckily its almost over)

Sounds like a great idea, keep an eye on loc.au for newbies,
and post to
loc.au.org.
Yeehaa! our own Legoz group where we can sell to and buy from
fellow Aussies
to our hearts content.
Perhaps if we want anything not avail in Aussie, then we can
get it together
and petition Lego Australia to import what we want so we
don't have to buy
from the US.
This should surely be a possibility especially as we are on
the back burner
(so far) as far as Lego Direct goes.
Also, this way we are a united front with some buying power, not just
individuals hassling Lego for single sets. (Perhap's at the
same time we can
ask for a bulk discount ;-)
Perhaps this new group is the beginning of a strong national
club, with the
possibility of finally attaining some pull with Lego
Australia, till Direct is
avail to us here, anyway. Possibly this is one for Brad to
mediate perhaps, as
we don't yet have Lego Direct, I wonder if he would be
willing to help us
mediate? Just some thoughts...
Rachel :-)

I hadn't wanted to bring this up until I had confirmation, but........

My father has told me he knows the relatives [close relatives] [I think that
was who it was] of a rather high-up employee of LA in the sales area [1].
Apparently this employee sends lego sets that aren't available in Australia
to this relatives children for christmas, etc. Dad said that he'd get me the
name/address/telephone number of this person, and/or put me in contact with
the relative of this person [And if I'm lucky, maybe I can go on the mailing
list :) ].

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get this info for a couple of weeks, but
when I get it, I'll get in contact with this person to let them know that we
exist, would be interested in helping LA promote lego in australia, and to
see if it would be possible to either get an account with LA or at least see
if LA would be able to get specific sets in for us [in quantity, not like 1
$5 set...more like 10-20 of each soccer bus] I'll also post details here if
I am given permission by this person. Otherwise I'll try and act as an
intermediery between LA and LegOz. If we can get the letter ready by then,
I'll arrange for whoever is going to post it to have a name to address it to
in LA [unless of course I get the job, in which case I should already know
it :).

Note: I'm being a little secretive here, as I don't want to miss out on the
information which could be of great benefit to us. If I post to much info,
there's a chance that this avenue of information may be closed to me/us.

[1] Dad did mention the words sales and manager [not nescesarily together],
but I was still recovering from hearing about being able to possibly contact
somone inside LA so I could have heard wrong...I hope not.
