I do not, however, think that the crisis is past.  For some time,
LUGNET has been in decline.  You have made numerous steps lately to
improve things, but this debacle is a big setback.  Moving forward, I
hope that you will make a good effort to provide leadership for
LUGNET that is clear, strong, and above all, consistent.  Without
that, more people will leave and LUGNET will fail.

Jeez.

I used to think that the overall tone of lugnet changed the day Todd took a
pointed leave of absence too, but I think this is wrong-headed thinking.
While Suz doesn't always come across as the friendliest person online -- I
recognize that this is "ONLINE" and it means nothing about her as she is in
real life or even in the long run, online.  Putting anything but the
administrative tasks she performs on her shoulders is probably wrong.  If
one does blame her -- why stop there?  Let's blame Dan and Jennifer Boger
too.  And heck, Todd -- let's blame Todd for abandoning us (damn him!)...

Or let's not.

Lugnet is going to change.  Lugnet is going to grow. People will come and
go.  And I don't want to be flip about this, but reality suggests that some
people will live and die and their administrative participation,
contributions, and posting patterns may match those highly personal
circumstances.

But it's not ALL Suz' fault.  That's just idiocy.  Wanna blame someone? Look
in the mirror.

Lugnet is ultimately nothing more than a compartmentalized dork
hierarchically structured fancy shmancy message board.  Okay, it might be a
"little" more than that, but not by much.  If the messages shared here lack
in quality or content -- look in the mirror.

Much is made of MOCs on Lugnet.  Well I have contributed MOCs -- feeble as
they may have been.  I have participated in contests.  I am currently the
impartial judge of the Ice Planet contest.  If all my efforts suck -- blame
me.  Well, you could blame Suz -- but then she'd probably send you to the devil.

So anyway, I occassionally try to put in my two cents and thereby make my
small contributions.  Others are doing their part as they see fit to do or
not do.  Fine.

You don't like it?  Go away.  Perhaps Lugnet is not the kind of
entertainment you want or need and there is always Bricklink (if all you
care about is $$$ or getting bricks) and even old RTL.  But don't blame the
admins and don't blame the contributors if you have failed yourself to
contribute positively.

I really don't see where others come off making the harsh judgements of
others and particularly of Suz.  In my mind and to my thinking, Suz is also
owed an apology by the many that took this opportunity to jump all over her
"stuff" and heap a bunch of garbage on her on top of that.  When it comes to
lego, I think some of you can't see past your fanboy and fangirl noses.
This myopic view is causing you to fail to recognize the legitimate concerns
that Suz and Todd have occasionally tried to explain to the rest of us as
regards Lugnet, TLC, Lego Direct, and all of the complicated relationships
between them all.  And as I have stated elsewhere, I give them a lot of
latitude in these areas because: a. the site ultimately belongs to them
(which can be annoying, I admit), and b. I probably don't have a complete
picture of everything they are dealing with.

And don't forget that it is often the jester that speaks the most truth --
well, it's either that or I am completely full of crap.

I for one do not think that Lugnet changed after Todd left. It is still the great place that it was. I think that all the complaining people should go get out a Lego set and build it. Makes more sense that spending hours worrying that Lugnet is bad. (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
