Well, it seems that we're [1] not the only country to have this side of TLG
exposed...For an earlier example of this policy of TLG towards 'Boy' and
'Girl' toys, as distinct from childrens toys, have a look at:

http://members.fortunecity.com/ben_whytcross/2000_catalogue/2000_Catalogue.h
tml

or for the text component of the catalogue:

Seems the innocent world of ABS is experiencing sexism...Maybe there'll be
'female' minifigs out soon burning their printing :) [well, I can't see any
other way they could protest...this is the only form of 'clothing' most of
them have.]

[1] Referring to Australia seeing something from TLG before the rest of the
world does...pity this doesn't also happen with sets :(

There are 8 jobs listed on http://www.monster.com also.

One of the interesting ones was for a designer for a new line
of "girl" toys.
Here is part of the description:
--
We are focused on building a line of Girls products ranging
from Arts &
Crafts, to Accessories to Technology toys. Have you worked on
the cutting edge
with exciting trends? Do you love to see your own concepts
come to life? If
so, we want to talk to you. The ideal candidates for this
opportunity will be
highly conceptual and have experience working on projects
from concept through
implementation, be familiar with the manufacturing process of
toy products
(for example, injection molding), have traveled and worked
with vendors in US
and Asian markets and be able to communicate concepts in 2-D
or 3-D. At least
4-8 years of experience working with Girls toy products or equivalent
experience a must.

I wonder what "girl...technology toys" are? And is girl
technology different
from boy technology? I do think it's good that LEGO continues
to try to get
more of the girls into the LEGO world, it's definatly a shame
that LEGO is
stereotyped as a boy toy.

I found extensive descriptions of two LEGO Direct job • openings on Dice.com
today.  Perhaps someone is interested in applying, but maybe • of more interest
are the actual descriptions.  I particular was happy to see • references
to "mass-customized products" and "consumer demand-driven • product creation"

Here are the two links:

Apply well,

(...) Why is it that the only new castle female minifig comes in the hugely expensive pack?? And the last non town/rock raiders minifig was a witch, who I had to purchase and give a new head to in order to include any women at all in my wild west (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.org.au)
