I have mixed feelings about this whole thread, but the one person that comes
closest to expressing views I can agree with is Ben.  I do think there is a
gap that does and probably should exist between "fans" and an official
company person.

Why?  I see no reason to differentiate between two people simply because one
had the luck and skill to get a job at the same place we would all love to work
for.  It seems to me that an employee of Lego is more likely to be an AFOL than
not, and isn't this site designed specifically so all AFOLs can converse freely
and together?

So what do we get with a greater level of communication, REALLY?  Answer:
thinly veiled marketing tactics (or euphemistically "inclusion") more than
likely. And frankly, who cares?

What's wrong with that?  We WANT to buy their product, don't wee?  Anything
that lets me have a say in what gets made is more than welcome in my book.
Marketing in and of itself isn't bad, especially when the company is giving the
consumers what they want and just wants said consumers to *know* about it.

I am willing to give the Lugnet admins a lot of latitude here because they
know things we do not know (they essentially have to be in the position of
knowing more).

Knowing things we don't does not give them the right to treat the Lego
employees poorly.  All that is is an abuse of power.

Anyway, I am not jumping to conclusions either way.  Maybe the Lugnet admins
ARE wrong about this issue.  Maybe they are PROTECTING Lugnet from becoming
a platform for free advertising for TLC instead.

Hey, we're advertiseing for them already by talking about products, so why not
let them join in the fun?  As I said, We WANT to buy Lego anyway, so what's the
problem?

Can everyone see that this may be far more complicated than what it may seem
on the surface? Check your assumptions at the door.

I see you still carrying your assumption that "marketing and advertising is
evil"...  ;)
