One quick thing I haven't mentioned in much detail yet: the way groups are
coalesced currently in the web view will probably always be a default view,
but there will be other views (customizable) and folders to store personal
article collections in and publish those folders to other people to read as
collections or streams -- partially a byproduct of inner reworkings done
during the news search engine rework earlier. Another way of putting this
is that the web interface to the newsgroups will become more like a
traditional newsreader (in terms of picking and choosing groups) while still
retaining all of its current behavior. This will have the effect of making
the newsgroup boundaries stronger for those who want them stronger and
weaker for those who want them weaker, on a group-by-group or area-by-area
basis. More details in an upcoming post.
