John, I'll take this in pieces if you don't mind.
I will take exception to the "greedy" statement. Pitsco LEGO Dacta (and
LEGO Dacta specifically) is designed to serve the school market. Our
business systems are designed to cater to schools and the unique challenges
they present. The prices for these similar items you mention are designed to
be exactly the same from division to division within LEGO. There should be
no difference in price. When there have been price differences we have made
the requisite changes. If you have any specific products that you feel are
mispriced, please let me know so we can go about changing these. The prices
of all our products are set at the beginning of the year and do not change
until the following year. This is done for a variety of reasons. You
stated many times about the restrictions in the education marketplace. What
you may not realize is that it is much more complicated than it seems from
the outside. In many districts we are required to post our price lists for
a specific period of time without changing them. This is done by contract
which gives us little ability to change during the year. S@H is a consumer
based outlet and has broad flexibiilty in dealing with their customers. We
often deal with schools that make purchases 6, 8 or even 12 months after we
have quoted them a price. This is simply the nature of budgets and funding
in the public school system. In order for us to service the education market
(our primary focus) we have to do certain things that may not seem logical
from a retail perspective.

| Maybe THIS is a better forum......... Dear PITSCO, You may wish to reference the "Bulk Technic Tubs" line under "Dear Lego" for some background. I teach a number of "enrichment" courses at my sons' elementary school, through scouts and elsewhere (...) (23 years ago, 19-Oct-01, to lugnet.lego.dacta)
