This post may be a rehash of existing info, but if not, here’s some of the
details of updates of the new LEGO Digital Designer version 1.3 that has
recently been released:
• Support for the LEGO Factory (http://www.legofactory.com) palette of bricks
• Support for the LEGO BrickMaster (http://www.legobrickmaster.com) palette of
bricks
• Brick accounting (make sure that you model keeps within a specific
assortment).
• Interactive camera controls (hold the ALT key while click-dragging the mouse).
• Remove UI controls to get more building real estate (press the TAB key).
• Build upside down.
• The base plate is replaced by a sticky grid.
• Introducing Intelligent LEGO Connections (place pieces even though they’re not
near a valid connection, good for vehicles etc.)
• Keyboard short-cuts for everything (see the manual for details).
• Convert a model from one brick palette to another (right-click in the
Restart/Open model dialogue)
• Render in different environments (press F3 in View mode to toggle backdrops).
• Building instruction player (press F2 in View mode).
• New selection tools: Select same colour, Select same design.
• Now always rendering in the same quality/level of detail as the printed LEGO
instructions.
