LEGOLAND(R) California Now Offers Special Events That 'Click' With Any Company's
Needs

CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The new kid on the block in the
special events business has lots of experience in making things click --
literally.  LEGOLAND(R) California, the popular new family theme park that's
quickly established a reputation as the interactive, fun place with a
difference, is now offering companies a unique alternative for special events.

With 16 rides and more than 30 attractions, shows and LEGO(R) brick building
projects on 128 acres, LEGOLAND gives meeting and event planners a whole new way
to host corporate and group events, team building sessions and picnics.  The
Park is open 365 days a year, and entices guests with sunny California weather
and a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean.

"Our Park was designed to nurture a child's creativity, imagination and sense of
discovery," said LEGOLAND California President and General Manager Mark Germyn
in announcing the new programs.  "The overwhelmingly enthusiastic response of
both the youngsters AND adults visiting us this past year convinced us -- it was
time to expand and nurture those same values in the 'older kids.'"

To do that, Germyn put LEGOLAND Marketing Sr. Sales Representative Deanne Olson
in charge of developing the Park's special events program.  Deanne became a
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) in 1996, joining an elite team of only
about 3,000 at that time.  She was one of the youngest people to achieve that
honor, and credits her years of experience at four and five star hotels in
preparing her for the rigorous CMP exam.

Deanne is joined by the Park's international team of award-winning chefs,
entertainers, LEGO model builders, miniature landscapers and logistical
coordinators in creating unique Park experiences for groups of all sizes.

"Meeting planners are always on the lookout for something unique, something to
break through the clutter and really involve and excite their employees and
clients," Deanne said.  "It's such fun to be able to offer them one-of-a-kind
experiences like a Renaissance-themed reception on Castle Hill, or a team-
building exercise where employees build and program LEGO(R) MINDSTORMS(TM)
robots."

Miniland, a popular area or "block" of the Park, features five geographic
regions of the United States depicted out of LEGO bricks in astonishingly
accurate 1:20 scale.  A twilight reception for an awards gala last year featured
gourmet cuisine representing each of the regions.

Guests sampled a hearty seafood chowder in the New England area, then nibbled on
petite pizzas, hot dogs and cheesecakes while they gazed at the brightly-lit New
York City skyline.  Spicy jambalaya and Cajun chicken were served in New
Orleans, and shrimp stir-fry was a hit in Southern California. Washington D.C.
was a capitol location for desserts, with apple crisp a la mode and assorted
chocolates.

When 20th Century FOX Home Entertainment wanted a special "kid friendly"
location for the release of their video BARTOK The Magnificent, they chose
LEGOLAND.  The LEGO Show Place theater, which holds 425 guests, ran the feature
throughout the day, and dozens of celebrities and their families were treated to
a catered luncheon on the Vista USA lookout.  The Magic Theater, which
accommodates 350, and the outdoor Fun Town Stage, with seating for 500, are also
available for group presentations.

This summer, hundreds of LEGO enthusiasts of all ages flocked to the LEGO Maniac
Kidvention Games, which were staged in a versatile 180' x 120' grass-covered
field just north of The Garden Restaurant.  Teams competed in building events
and relay races while high-energy music urged the contestants on.  The area can
be modified to accommodate sporting events, a concert or just about any other
request a company might have.

New this fall will be an 80' x 80' hospitality tent, which can host up to 400
people and can be decorated to order to add countless options for special events
planners.

The Park offers a wide variety of menu options.  Hearty buffets with ribs, roast
chicken and Caesar salad, picnics featuring barbecue or burgers, brunches, with
a wide variety of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and formal sit-down dinners are
just some of the culinary choices available.

Popular Park culinary favorites include homemade four-cheese ravioli, shitake-
crusted chicken breast and pan seared salmon.

Guests can even opt for a proper Afternoon Tea on the Garden Terrace overlooking
the 2-acre lake.  A selection of English tea sandwiches and freshly baked scones
with Devonshire cream are the perfect accompaniment to freshly brewed teas and
coffees.

"We can accommodate an intimate group of 30 all the way up to a Park-wide event
for 12,000," Deanne said.  For more information on booking a customized special
event, companies can contact Deanne at (760) 918-5373, or
deanneo@america.legolcom.  A Special Events page is also featured on the Park's
website at www.legoland.com.
