An interesting idea, but somehow I doubt a now so infamous structure
associated with volatile middle eastern politics, religion, death,
murder, and destruction is what Lego is looking for. :(

I'd also guess that the design of the twin towers is a trademark that
somebody (perhaps the Port Authority?) owns the rights to. So you would
not be able to sell it without a license. I wonder if this is the case
with the Statue of Liberty? I believe I once read that the distinctive
shape of the Empire State Building is a trademark.

The towers themselves are over 7000 pieces. 2500 are the tile grilles. I
don't know how many more pieces are in the rest of the complex. Yes, it
was rather expensive to build.

I cheaper (much cheaper) alternative is some of the paper card models
that you can download online for free, but I don't know how good they
look when assembled.

Currently I am in the process of writing a paper that details the design
philosophy and construction that I used to build this model (I'd like to
see more builders try this sort of knowledge sharing approach). Anyone
will be able to freely access it online and they can copy (or even
improve) the design and build their own WTC model. To me this seems like
a better idea than a kit. My two cents....

How about a new site design kit. In light of the current statement: "The person who can give us a new WTC may not have been born yet" (referring to the challenging design review now underway) However, everybody has one already... or is there (...) This seems like an amazing idea to me, and certainly not far-fetched. I envision a complete (or simply the two towers) World Trade Center set. When I first saw Spencer Rezkalla's WTC, (URL) , my jaw almost dropped. This looks like something lego (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.build, lugnet.dear-lego)
