lugnet.robotics.edu and lugnet.edu have just been created. For background
information on how these came to be, please see the following messages and
related threads:
http://www.lugnet.com/robotics/rcx/nqc/?n=205 <-- especially this one
http://www.lugnet.com/off-topic/debate/?n=1419 <-- and this one

These new discussion groups were inspired and motivated in part by talks,
panels, and workshops given at MIT's recent MindFest™ robotics event
<http://www.media.mit.edu/mindfest/>, but they are in no way officially
associated with or sponsored by MindFest™ or the MIT Media Lab, and were,
by request of LUGNET users, created to fill a void.
lugnet.edu is for discussions of a very broad nature which may or may not
directly involve LEGO. lugnet.robotics.edu is for discussions about (among
other things) learning and teaching with LEGO robotics. More details:
CHARTER/PURPOSE
===============
-> lugnet.edu (group):
Broad educational issues and meta-topics for teachers, students,
engineers, classroom volunteers, mentors, hackers, hobbyists, kids,
and anyone who wants to learn and pass along to others: re-thinking
school; "learning" vs. "teaching"; resistance to change; the future
of education and how LEGO® fits in; learning how to learn; the value
of playful learning, thinking, and designing; epistemology and
constructionism; common glues which unite educators, kids,
hobbyists, and researchers; other ideas which circumvent rather than
patch the current educational system; etc.
lugnet.robotics (group and hierarchy):
Building, creating, and developing with added technologies: the
LEGO® MINDSTORMS™ RIS, other programmable bricks, vision systems,
bar-code readers, radio controlled units, research sites, microcode /
embedded programming, etc.
-> lugnet.robotics.edu (group):
Learning and teaching with robotics: LEGO® robotics in the
classroom; investigatory projects and project learning; project
questions, suggestions, success stories, developments, etc.; reuse
of old technologies and enabling learning about new technologies and
putting them in viable perspective; collaboration, synergy,
encouragement, and comradeship of many people sharing unique
interests, relevant information, and skills; fusion of educators,
engineers, hackers, hobbyists, kids, etc.
