I think that if we got something like this off the ground, that we would be

Lets say that you want 1,000 of part X

Now lets say that that 3 other people want 1,000 each of parts A, B, and C.

Now, knowing this and the price that you would pay for the parts, we could
make strategic purchases of a set (or sets) that have those parts in them.

You get the parts that you want, and we get the safety net of knowing that
if we spend the money on the sets, that atleast we already have SOME of the
parts sold.

Of course, this wouldn't work for older parts that are no longer in current
sets.  But it is a start.  I doubt that we will ever be able to come in cld
turkey and get TLG to dig out a mold for a discontinued part.

Well, this isn't fully compatible with what a lot of us want, and as
Larry pointed out, this adds more work into the process that doesn't
really have any value.  If you want to be the one doing the grunt
work, more power to you, but most people wouldn't want to do it.

BUT, this is something that some smooth-talking person ought to be
able to work out with S@H right now.

I've always wondered if S@H would offer a volume discount if you
could ask the right person.  Think about it - I could order a gray
brick pack each day for 6 months, and they'd ship them all to me
individually, charging the same price.  Wouldn't it make sense if I
wanted to buy 180 of them at once, that they cut me some kind of
slack on the total cost?

I don't think that I've ever ordered in large enough quantities to
go for this, but what about some of you guys who have ordered more
than 50 or so of something at once?
