I'm sure this has been annoying many of you.
The site has been crashing randomly every 1-6 hours since last
Thursday. The problem is believed to be a bug in
FreeBSD-3.1 that was triggered by the Statistics reporting scripts
I started running last Week. Today I built a new server with
FreeBSD 3.2. Configuration is complete and the system appears to be
stable again.
You know, I never had a system crash in 2 years running Solaris on
Sparc, even under occasional extreme load. But the Dual PII 333 system
I'm using now has a bit more power compared to the Sparc5.
That extra power is real handy when updating the website. hmm, I wonder
if there are any Ultra 2's or Ultra Enterprise 450's on Ebay...
As for FTP, that was a completely different problem, where Netscape
couldn't access the files, but a regular ftp client could. That
too seems to be fixed with the upgrade.

Then I get this: Extended Server Error Message : 200 Type set to (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)
