An example of the oldest non-building LEGO set in MISB has been located.  It is
the 1955 dated 1300 "Mosaik Set", sold only in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.  This
set was not at all popular, and many of the examples may have been sent back to
TLG.

TLG owns a used copy of this set, and has it in their LEGO Collections.

This is the first time I have ever seen the inside of this "museum quality" LEGO
set.... thanks to my Dutch LEGO collector friend Henk Van Zanten.  This is a
Danish example with "System i leg" (Swedish and Norwegian examples would have
"System i lek" on the box).

The inside is shrink wrapped, common for 1950-65 LEGO basic and model sets...

The colorful brochure has KKK's late sister Hanne on the brochure image.

The brochure (from another Dutch source) looks like this....

If this MISB set ever came up for auction... I could see it easily topping
$2,000.

Cheers,
Gary Istok

P.S.  Another part of a group of 50 more rare images for the next version of my
LEGO Collectors Guide DVD/download... (still available as listed in Lugnet
Marketplace)... the upgrade version will be free to current owners... just
finished another chapter (#74) this week.

(...) I just got an image from the LEGO Archives from Billund on their version of the 1300 set. It was an open set, and shows what the set looks like without the brochures.... (URL) believe that this set contained so few parts because TLG wanted to (...) (12 years ago, 25-Feb-13, to lugnet.general)
