The Brickworld Team has arranged to create and execute a Build On-The-Spot
(BOTS) challenge at this years event. This challenge will be completed in
addition to the regular Mindstorms displays and events.
As some may remember, in April 2005, TLG created and held an event in Billund.
The event was attended by many who later became MUP, MDP and MCP members
supporting the Mindstorms community. In Billund the teams were given a
challenge at 3:30 PM Saturday afternoon and the contest began at noon on Sunday.
We dont want people going sleepless for the BOTS challenge at Brickworld and we
dont want it to interfere with the remainder of the event. So, the BOTS
challenge will begin at 1 PM on Thursday afternoon. The contest will be held
Thursday evening starting at 8 PM. (times are subject to adjustment)
The BOTS challenge requires that you and your team gain comprehension of the
rules, construct a robot and program your robot in the 7 hours between 1 PM and
8 PM. The BOTS rules will be revealed at 1 PM. The rest is up to you.
To preregister and guarantee your team a spot in the challenge, you need to
reply to this post. All competitors and teams will be public knowledge. And,
speaking of teams; one rule TLG put in place that helped make the event fun was
that there are 3 people required per team. We are holding on to that rule. So,
sign up in groups of 3. And, all competitors must be fully registered
Brickworld attendees.
As for the rest of the rules...well, your guess is, uh...your guess.
Many thanks to Brian Davis for volunteering to sit out the BOTS challenge and
run it!!
We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!!!
Regards, the Brickworld Team
Brickworld will be held June 18 - 21, 2009 at the Westin North Shore Hotel in
Wheeling, IL (a suburb of Chicago).

| (...) Attention everyone!! Okay - is everyone listening? We are modifying the conditions of the BOTS challenge in response to feedback received from the community. 1) You do not need team mates. You can compete as an individual or a team. 2) You do (...)
