  More LEGO anniversary geekiness...

As seen on Geekdad-- (URL) linked from Gizmodo-- (URL) only issue I have is with the image they used. More specifically, the image states that in 1978 "the LEGO minifig is born. Without arms or faces! (Thank God this was solved a year later)" We all (...) (17 years ago, 28-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Lego on Google

I've been chuckling at all the LEGO 50th birthday hoopla because it's my 50th birthday this week too (on Thursday). Co-incidence, you say?   Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) Could it be that the long range mode of IR is not set (I saw no reference to range setting in your source, and I don't know the default state). Despite the difference in carrier frequency, the RCX 1.0 and RCX2.0 are able to dialog albeit with (...) (17 years ago, 27-Jan-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics)

A look back at Lego online

Gizmodo has a look back at old versions of popular websites, including (URL) Lego's official site as seen in 1996>. They've come a long way. And I remember when it looked like that.... Roy (17 years ago, 27-Jan-08, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Power Functions infra-red RC protocol released!

(...) I just tried the new commands with a home-made NXT-controlled IR remote. I was able to get them to work without a problem. I verified the single-output PWM mode, which starts a motor at a given power level, in which it stays indefinitely (...)   Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) i have not really spent a lot of time trying to figure these modes out. i was more concerned with getting the PWM to work correctly. i'm going to spend more time testing this and will let you know. bob (17 years ago, 26-Jan-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) Glad it worked for you and thanks for the heads up on the RCX 2.0 problems. i don't have a 2.0 RCX to play with so i'm not sure if it is a timing issue that can be resolved or what. i was very excited the first time i got my RCX to talk to the (...)   Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) Well this was just a quickly hacked out example program to show how to use the library function that i wrote. i realized at the time that the PWM started out at fastest and went to slowest but i had run out of steam and never really got back (...)   Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) With all the support material (decals, paints, painting guides out there for the military modeling hobby, its an easy jump to Lego doing a military line. I suspect we are only a few years away from it. (17 years ago, 26-Jan-08, to lugnet.general)

Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

Thank you very much for that fine piece of software Bob! After reading your post I immediately run in my LEGO room to grab an RCX and the IR tower to test your software. Well, I had to find out that I had not enough batteries at home and thus had to (...) (17 years ago, 26-Jan-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Hi the pro builders are a good lot, Nathan does custom work (called the brick artist), you can also check with the clubs, some of them do amazing work as well. www.brickmuseum.net Dan (17 years ago, 26-Jan-08, to lugnet.events, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us, lugnet.loc.us.fl, lugnet.loc.us.fl.orl)

Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) Okay, thanks. I can get 'Single output Mode' to work now. 'Single pin Mode' may be working too, but I'm not sure what to expect from it. I would expect setting either C1 or C2 would set them to 9V and run a motor forwards or backwards. Setting (...)   Re: Power Function control with RCX and BrickOS

(...) Bob, I could not wait to get home from work to try this. I want to say thank you; your effort has saved me many countless hours. I loaded the Firmware, and the Program into a 1.0 RCX, and the brick worked flawlessly! On my 1.0 brick, I was (...)   Re: Has Lego begun producing "war toys"?

(...) A crying shame really, since WW2 models precisely like those would guarantee them my money. ESPECIALLY M1 Abrahms and Apaches! (Aircraft carriers would rock, too) (17 years ago, 26-Jan-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military, FTX)
