Just wanted to throw out a potential solution for Kevin - Would Amazon's S3
product be a solution to the bandwidth/storage concerns?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261
I've heard both first and secondhand stories about how S3 is a lifesaver and
budget saver for data/bandwidth intensive businesses. Couple this with a
relatively small freemium model (like Flickr does - smaller feature set free for
anyone, some features only for paid accounts), and it seems like that might be
an option.
I know Basecamp (http://www.basecamphq.com/) uses it effectively, and they
certainly have equal, if not far greater bandwidth issues.

| (...) Since S3 is talking about using BitTorrent to move data, this would not be a good solution for data that needs to be available on a real-time basis. It sounds like it's more appropriate for an online backup solution. (17 years ago, 15-Jul-07, to lugnet.general)
