I had (am having) an interesting experience recently which makes me wonder about
the value of polls like this, especially for expensive items. I asked my
customers which of my older Lions Gate Models kits they would like me to
re-release in a new color scheme. I got plenty of responses and a definite
winner, and a lot of interest in the follow-up poll on desired color scheme. So,
I just released the kit as requested: to a resounding lack of response.
Hindsight says that probably most of the people who replied to the poll were not
prospective buyers for a kit at that price point, even though they might like to
be.
If I was LEGO, I would now be wondering how many poll answers come from kids who
can no way afford a multi-$100 UCS kit,whose parents would never buy them one,
and thus are not potential customers at all.
