The Advent Calendar set this year is definitely different, in that there are no
printed step-by-step instructions for each day's model, only a picture of what
the model is supposed to look like when complete. And there is no additional
instruction, as in years past, on the 5th or 6th day combining pieces found on
the previous days to make one big model. Although Lego did not explain any of
this to the customer, the models, at least the ones I've opened so far, begin
with a minifig and proceed to present items that minifig would use (1st is
fireman; 2nd is oxygen tanks, fire hydrant, and water nozzle with water (this
one may not be so clear, using what most of us would consider a megaphone for a
water nozzle); 3rd is a "cherry picker," the ladder-like mechanism found on some
fire trucks. (It appears that you have to build the fire truck on your own;
pieces are not included to build the fire truck.) 4th is policeman; 5th is
police dog and police roadblock; 6th is prisoner/criminal. A picture of the
policeman trailing the prisoner/criminal is shown on the inside of the flap of
the calendar box.)
The theme is different this year in that it is City, although previous years'
calendars have presented models which could be hung on the tree, and a wider
variety of pieces, I often found myself wondering what some of the models were.
I actually think this year's concept (presenting figs and things they would use)
is actually clearer than some models in years past.
I hope the calendar isn't too much of a disappointment to you. Hopefully some of
these explanations make it a little clearer.

| Dear Lego Company, I am writing to express our disappointment about this year's new set, 7324, LEGO City Advent Calendar. As our kids have been playing with Lego toys for more than 8 years and based on the number of Lego sets we have purchased (...) (19 years ago, 13-Dec-05, to lugnet.general)
