Hi Dave,

I feel your pain. :)

Posting images can be a bit confusing, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it’s not too bad.

To get an image to show up in the body of the message you need to do two things:

1) Make sure you are posting from the web interface of LUGNET.com. As you are preparing to post, look just below the subject line text box near the top of the message and make sure you select “Formatted text (FTX)” from the Format dropdown box as shown below.

2) Make sure you have the syntax correct for the link to the image. To put the link in the message, it’s a simple matter of putting two ‘<’ brackets at the beginning of the link and two of the opposite brackets at the end. So to produce the image above, here is the exact text I put in the message:

I’ve set the follow-ups to this message to lugnet.off-topic.test. That’s a great place to experiment with your FTX postings until you’re comfortable with them. The other thing to do is use the ‘Preview’ button on the web interface to see what your message will look like when you post it. If you don’t see your image the way you expect in the preview, it won’t be there in the final.

Hope that helps,
Allan B.

I tried to post a msg with images but only the link to the image shows up. What is the syntax for getting the image to load in the message? I see the '<<img>>' help, but can't figure out what to type in. Is it <<img (URL) or <<img ...com/...jpg>> or (...) (19 years ago, 16-Oct-05, to lugnet.general)
