I just had a funny thought.  What if there were a collection somewhere of
interesting little stories about online LEGO enthusiasts, their lifestyles,
their crazy habits, their crowning achievements, etc.?  I mean, something
easily accessible and digestable for journalists.

I'm thinkin' that as more and more fans congregate online and do more and
more amazing things, the more attention it's likely to gain, and the more
fun journalists will have writing about it (it is a fun, great hobby, after
all! :-).

If people find certain stories particularly unusual or amusing or riveting,
then that's the kind of thing journalists wanna know about.  Making it easy
for them to find that, as a starting place, might be a fun as well as
worthwhile for the community.

A few things that come to mind:

- James Jessiman's story -- how he created and left behind the world-famous
LDraw, which people are still using, enjoying, and adding to today, and
for which there is a whole sub-community of people devoted to it.

- Weird Richard's amazing LEGO curriculum for kids!  <www.weirdrichard.com>
(speaking of which, what happened to the site?)

- PNLTC <www.pnltc.org> and GMLTC <www.gmltc.org> and their amazing setups.

- BayLUG <www.baylug.org>, which may be the first formal user group in the
U.S. which meets and has a name, etc.

- Online fan-created building contests like the ancient theme building
  contest <http://itsa.ucsf.edu/~erikred/brick/classic/ancient.html> and the
Halloween building contest (which appears to be in the process of moving).

- Specialized stores like The Construction Site <www.constructiontoys.com>,
whose owners are hardcore LEGO maniacs and build amazing things.

- Insanely (in a good way, of course :-) detailed and accurate LEGO versions
of Star Wars things -- such as Ben Fleskes's Millenium Falcon
  <http://www.geocities.com/PicketFence/1438/falcon2.htm> and Shawn
  Sullivan's AT-ST <http://web.mit.edu/sullis3/www/ATSTINTR.htm/>.

- etc., etc.

What else makes for good print stories?
