Strange unidentified sword

Hey all,
At today's local LEGO meeting, I discovered a rather unusual chrome sword
in one of the buckets.

It's like nothing I've ever seen before and isn't listed on Peeron. Sorry
the pictures are kind of pixelated - my camera's zoom doesn't work very
well on closeups. Anyway, it's solid chrome and it appears that the
underlying plastic is green.
Has anyone ever seen this sword before, in a set or in the wild? Is it even
LEGO?
