Hey gang, I have had this idea brewing for awhile and I would like to
discuss it so that with help we can evolve the idea and make it a reality.
This is something that I'm sure has been thought of before, so chime in and
let's make it happen, or at least begin ground work to give the idea direction.
Ever seen the Movie "Trekkies" (I hope I got the name right)
Well we deserve a Movie sort of like that!
Imagine this:
Someone or many people - Travel from one point of the country and make stops
at the homes of members of Lugnet. The person interviews the member and we
complie the interviews into a movie!
The interviewer could stop at peoples homes, see MOC's talk to some of our
Members, get stories and thoughts about being a Lugnetter and a Lego enthusiest.
There are always lot's of events, Lug meetings, Competions and shows to film.
This sort of thing could shed a postive light on our hobby and set the stage
for us rather than having it portayed otherwise.
You know by us for us etc...
Well this is sort of the Raw idea, give some more ideas as they come to you
and perhaps we can find a way to make it happen.
Last month I was considering driving from New Jersey to California for the
Bricks West 2003 event. I may have a commission in Southern California so I
had reason to take my car. I thought it would be cool to ask who would be
willing to meet me along the way and possibly ofer me a place to crash for
the night. I decided to have my Car shipped and fly. But during my plans I
thought it may be something if this interview thing were to happen.
At this point I'm all ears. Imagine if you could see and here from some of
the great members out there in a way that was visual and personnal.
I mean the Trekkies movie was sort of like showing the bizzare nature of the
folks who are into Star Trek, but a Lugnet movie would show about the same
thing I guess, but be a little more classy I would hope.
I know some great Members travel around alot and have used Lugnet to ask
people from differnt local areas if anyone is around that wants to get together.
Maybe it could work something like that.
One other thing. I wanted to produce a Map of the USA and use it as an
example of what I was talking about. Perhaps, a Map of the USA with the
stops (people's houses) could be used (revolving)to mark where the
interviewer is and where the next stop is.
Right now it's a jumble of ideas, lot's of logistics and such.
Can anyone make any other suggestions? Who's got a Video Cam?
Who could do such a thing?
Could we get a Independent Film maker to foot such a thing?

| Intresting idea. I don't know if one person would be up to this task. That's alot of travel and commitment. The IFC, independent film channel seems to sponser stuff like that all the time. It's worth looking into. One thing that I thought of from (...) (22 years ago, 11-Dec-02, to lugnet.people)
