LEGO in the grocery aisle

Picking up assorted groceries at my local Hannaford store (Newport News,
VA, USA) and what should appear in front of me but a point-of-purchase
display box in the seasonal aisle with four LEGO sets in boxes.  They
were essentially boxed polybags and consisted of the Adventurer with
accessories, the Res-Q personal watercraft, a small race car, and Ninja
Blaster which has the helmeted robber and a double catapult.  I think
the Ninja one was one of the Japanese candy promos.  Each was $2.99
which means I paid a dollar for the box but since I have not seen the
Ninja bag I got one.

Now if only they would carry discontinued Pirate sets...

Interesting - the Kroger grocery store around the corner from my house has had some LEGO sets in the cereal aisle (of all places) for a couple of months. They had a bi-wing blaster, an insectoid set, and a small Ninja set. When I first saw them I (...) (25 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)
