I was *very* pleased to be able to attend.  Everyone there had a great time,
and I was able to chat with Stephen Gerling, who designed the stamp, and he
was very friendly.  Many of us built our own models after the stamp was
completed, my personal favorite was a good-sized LEGO snowman (but then I'm
biased--my sister and her friend built it!  :)  )

Anyway, Stephen Gerling revealed to an extremely reliable source of mine (I
was off looking at the Monster Booksale at the time) that the 2003 UCS model
will be--drumroll please!--a three foot long Star Destroyer!  Sounds pretty
cool.  I've always wanted to build one, but never could find the time, so
I'm looking forward to it.

Giant LEGO Mosaic event in Austin, Texas

This past weekend, the LEGO company, along with support from the United States Postal Service, hosted an event to construct a huge LEGO stamp. The stamp measured 25 x 37 feet and was made up of over 172,000 bricks. I wrote up a quick description (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.us.texlug) !
