I just noticed that some of the new town style racers sets have some
very small pull back motors.  What I'd like to know is if the wheels
are permanently attached to the motors, or if there is some kind of
connection.  (Set numbers, eg, 4590, 4591, 4592.)

I can't find a reference to those set numbers, but if these are in the same
line of racers as set 4583, then, yes the wheels are removable.  The wheels
will fit on standard Town wheel-pegs, but standard Town wheels won't fit on
the pullback motor.

These sets are available here in Norway, BTW.  I suppose you've had
them "over there" a long time already?

These racers have been on the shelves a few weeks in the US.  I'm not sure
that counts as "a long time" or not. :)

Since early December, actually.  That's when I got my first one.

If they are as versatile as the new Technic pull back motors from a
year ago or so, then I'm pretty impressed!

They seem to be very good.  The main motor case is 2 x 4 x 2&2/3, with a 2 x
2 plate/tab on the front.  The motor has plenty of power for small
constructions; I haven't tried anything large yet.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words:

You can see the shape of the motor, with the decorative bits, as well as
crosshairs on the hub that allow it to work with the pullback motor. The
white pegs have little tabs on them that fit on the crosshairs.  You need
those cutouts to fit a wheel onto this motor.
