I can't find a reference to those set numbers, but if these are in the same
line of racers as set 4583, then, yes the wheels are removable. The wheels
will fit on standard Town wheel-pegs, but standard Town wheels won't fit on
the pullback motor.

These racers have been on the shelves a few weeks in the US. I'm not sure
that counts as "a long time" or not. :)

They seem to be very good. The main motor case is 2 x 4 x 2&2/3, with a 2 x
2 plate/tab on the front. The motor has plenty of power for small
constructions; I haven't tried anything large yet.
My only complaint is the presence of some decorative bits on the back -
these bits will make it more difficult to build onto the back of the motor.

There has been some discussion that some sets came with old wheels, or a mix
of wheels. Other than that, I haven't seen too many messages.
