You do not need to be a Lugnet member to post!

I recently saw a couple incidents of people who thought they needed to be a
Lugnet member to participate in discussions here, which is not at all the case.

All you need to do to participate in conversation on Lugnet is fill out the
posting setup:

  http://news.lugnet.com/news/post/setup/

This will do two things:

1: store a cookie in your browser with those settings, which will let you
post messages through the web interface, and

2: identify you to the Lugnet server, so it recognizes you, and will let you
post messages.  Verification notices will be sent to your e-mail address for
messages you submit, and they will be posted after you confirm them.

If you want to post with a newsreader or an e-mail program, all you need to
do is make sure your personal information (name and e-mail address) in that
program are the same as you submitted in the posting setup.

Lugnet memberships are there so that people who want to help pay for Lugnet
have an easy way of doing so.  It comes with some useful benefits, but the
real motivation is to help support Lugnet.

Lots and lots of people out there are unable or unwilling to be a member for
any number of reasons - please don't let that stop you from joining in the
conversations!

thanks,

James
