Thanks! Great pages with lots of pics!

I've gotten about a three foot pile of books on WWII aircraft and spits over
the past two weeks so I'm up to my knees in resources ( literally!)

Thanks for the idea! I'm toying now with using lots of 1x1 plates to portray
the camo and paint, But finding enough plates and bricks ten times over
get's pretty pricey! but the results are way cool!

Geordan,

I found some info on a modelling page. Check this page out
http://www.hotel.wineasy.se/ipms/helpdesk.htm

There are some color photos of some spitfires under the aircraft reference
section, and some profiles a bit lower down under the heading "Camouflage
and Markings of No. 74 Sqn RAF (Part 1"

You also might see if your local library has any aviation materials with
spits in them.

Yeah I thought of making the spitfire two tone of tan and green or something
like that, but the results aren't very apealing, it is impossible to get
smooth camo lines with lego, that's why I figured that I may do decals
instead, I'm still undecided though, Thanks for your input!

Geordan,

Most Wartime Spitfires were of a brown, and 2 shade green color, while Photo
recon spits were a pale blue shade.  Some USAAF and RAF spitfires as well as
RN seafires were in a pale grey color that the light grey lego shade
approximates very closely.  I will see if I can find you some color profiles.
BT a Spit in legos sounds very cool

Right now it is green overall with the underside of the wings and fuselage
in light grey. It also has D-day invasion markings on the bottom as well (
black and white stripes on the bottom rear part of the fuselage)

At this point lego doesn't make a camo-green colour or a light olive drab,
so making the spitfire in all green is about as close as I figure I can get.

There is also the option of making the entire plane light grey, but largeish
camo decals to go over top. I know most people hate large decals on lego
models and so do I, so want to clear this with everyone before I order the
parts off of brickbay. Large decals would also raise the price a little more
(not much) because of the cost of printing. Would people prefer having an
all grey plane with little bits of green mixed in? There are tons of colour
options so let me know what you want! The only set coulors are the white and
black stripes, and the grey underside of the fuselage and wings.

This kit should be availabe within three weeks, maybe a little more/less.
Hopefully I will have my site up and a picture of the finished kit within
two weeks.

Thanks in advance,

-Geordan-
