In lugnet.mediawatch, Christopher Tracey writes:

1- it is rumored that there is a metro stop under the Dulles Airport
outside D.C.  It's a completed station sans track with the portals
sealed off until they build the metro out there.  In a parking lot you
can see a small boxy structure covered by concrete slabs that is
supposedly the elevator to it.

In New York there are a similar bunch of tunnels left over from discontinued
or abandoned lines. While most are never seen there is a set of them kept in
good condition so that anyone who wants to film a movie in a "New York City
subway" can use these instead of getting in the way of rush hour traffic.
