    Different Instructions - Same Set? —Jon Kozan
   Occasionally LEGO will package different parts groups in the bags inside the set box. This has been infrequently mentioned here... But this morning I ran across my first experience of different instructions for the same set. I was opening a few (...) (23 years ago, 18-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

     Yes, in a small boxed set. The set was 6800 if I remember correctly. There are also other sets around since I remember I saw scans from brickshelf described in update report as "alternate version". Selçuk (...) (23 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.general)

   this is a simple matter of the sets were assembled at different times the second time lego was including catalogs (...) (23 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.general)
