Rumours that did not come true

While there are a fair amount of rumours popping up in RTL and LUGNET
that do come true, there are also a number that do not.

For example, there was a rumour circulating some two or three years ago
or so that LEGO was going to start using six digit set numbers.  Now, it
is obvious that they need to introduce more digits sooner or later
(unless they want to continue reusing set numbers), but we still haven't
seen too many sets with six digit numbers.

There was also some rumour that the fifth technic supercar was going to
be an off-road vehicle.  Clearly, the 8448 is not!  This may very well
have originated from pure speculation based on the 4WD technique
implemented in the 8880.  I don't remember.

Are there any other significant rumours that did not come true?

Fredrik
