I just received a lot of old LEGO and it has some interesting tires. The
tires all appear to fit the 2x2 hubs (both the old style with the metal
pin axle and the new styles like the Adventurers wheel). The tires are
solid hard rubber, and have no LEGO markings. 3 of the tires are labeled
as Firestone Deluxe Champions (there is other writing I can't make out).
The other tires are unmarked.

I suspect these aren't LEGO but it's cool that they fit LEGO hubs. Of
course they suggest a sick little vignette (1)... I might have to buy
some model decals to get a certain car manufacturers label...

(1) Sick as compared to the mostly amusing vignette I actually purposely
bought some Mega Bloks sets for, one day, on my way home, I hit an awful
traffic jam. Braced for the usual fender bender, I was amazed to see a
18 wheeler frame trailer (like used for logging etc., not a flatbed)
sitting in the right hand lane. Over on the shoulder, there was a truck
cab, with PART of a trailer still attached. Basically what appears to
have happened is that the frame came apart and left most of the trailer
behind. Given that there wasn't a big gouge in the road, my guess is
that the truck had stopped hard in stop and go traffic, which broke a
pin or bolt, and then when the truck started off again, most of the
trailer stayed behind. I REALLY wished I had had a camera, or that the
newspaper had got wind of the incident. In any case, I duplicated the
scene with Mega Bloks (the caption would have the truck driver talking
to the cop and saying: "Gee, I guess I shouldn't have skimped by buying
a Mega Bloks truck, I should have bought a LEGO truck.").

Please follow up to the appropriate group...

Frank
