Hi!
A couple of weeks ago, a fellow worker came in to my office. "Here's
something for You" he said, and gave me a little plastic bag with
three 'maxifig' heads.
Then he told me their story:
"Back in the (mid?) 70's, we made some measurings for LEGO A/S
(Denmark). They were interested in measuring the hats to these heads.
I don't remember now, if we ever sold them a machine or not, and the
hats have disappeared, but here are the heads!"
Now, the interesting thing is, that the measuring machines we make are
in the accuracy range of 3-10 microns (1/1000 mm), and cost _a_ _lot_.
And this was only for checking the hats for maxifigs!
As for the heads themselves, they are without faces, completely blank.
The hats my fellow worker remembers as "some cowboy like things", but
he couldn't find them anywhere.
(The company I work for is named C.E. Johansson, and calls itself
'Masters of measurement' - we deal in gauge blocks, calipers,
co-ordinate measuring machines and the like - http://www.cej.se if You
are interested)
