Has anyone else ever encountered this problem:
Stuck inside of a grey trashcan piece is a minifig helmet (possibly with
other small pieces under the helmet). I have had this problem for a few
years with a bunch of trashcan pieces. But I have found a remedy: take a
small nail and hammer gently into the center of the bottom of the trashcan.
When the nail penetrates the plastic, take a toothpick and slide it into the
hole you made with the nail. You can now pop out the helmet with relatively
minor damage to the can. This has been driving me crazy as the helmet fits
extremely snugly into the can and can not be removed by any other method
I've found. Now I have finally liberated some of my helmets, including a
somewhat rare yellow one. I have also found various 1x1 round plates and
flowers stuck inside of the cans under the helmets.
