About 3 weeks ago I received two of these in the mail.  One address to my 2
year old daughter and one to my dog.  Both are subscribers to Lego Mania
magazine and neither has ever ordered from Lego S&H.  I did not receive one
even though I too am a subscriber but I have purchased from S&H.  I wonder
if it is to try to get people to buy lego from them directly.

At my mom's yesterday there was a letter for my son from LEGO. (He gets his
Mania Magazine there.) The envelope said, "Prepare for the invasion! Free
sample."  Inside was a polybag with one of those new Martian minifigs inside.
(No set number was on the bag.) My mom couldn't say for sure when the letter
came, only "fairly recently".

Has anyone else gotten one of these?  My other son and my recently deceased
cat, who get their Mania Magazines at our house, haven't received anything, but
I'm hoping all subscribers will be getting one.

I am glad to find out more about this.  Hopefully Lego isn't reading
this...  A few weeks ago I went to Imagination Center and asked about the
four polybag sets.  They thought they had them, and went to go check.  They
brought about a dozen of those polybag Martians to the counter.  They then
gave them to me, saying that they couldn't sell them because they were
without a barcode.  When I called the next day, they had recieved
instructions from Lego to give them away free with each LOM purchase (100 or
so of these Martians in stock).  But that's not the end of the story.  I
called up Customer Service and they told me that those Martians were part of
a promotional/giveaway to some sort of club involved with Lego.  A Builder's
Club, or else just the Mania Magazine subscribers, I'm not sure.  Customer
Service was very suspicious about where I got those Martians, and then
wanted to know about Lunget when I mentioned "an on-line Lego site".  I
didn't tell them about Lugnet, and then they wanted to know my name.  So I
said "Goodbye" and hung up.  My motto: Never deal with Customer Serivce.  I
sent one of those Martians to Huw, by the way, so within a few weeks he
should be adding it to his site.  Anyone else seen these rare polybags?  I
will go ahead and post the picture to Brickshelf in a few minutes too.
