It could be either. But, I'd consider this:
* Is the line on every picture? If so, then I'd suspect the camera. If is
at the same place, then it's probably the CCD. But if could be something in
the camera's circuitry and/or memory and not necessarily be in the same
place on every picture, but on every picture.
* Is the line on picture "X"? Where X is roughly the same picture of each
set of pictures (at the same picture quality). If so, I'd suspect the
memory card. This would be harder to tell, because with compression and
varying picture size the same memory location on the card could end up in
different locations on the pictures or even in different pictures.
But, what I'd really suggest is that you take it to a good camera store and
see if they'll check it. Put your memory card in one of their cameras and
see if the line shows up or use one of their memory cards -- assuming that
they have a PC you can use -- and test it that way.
In Atlanta, I'd suggest one of the bigger Wolf Cameras. I've had great
results with them and helping me with problems I've had with digital, film
and video cameras as far as testing new equipment before buying it,
troubleshooting problems, obtaining service and loaner equipment when your
equipment has been sent off for warranty repairs. Part of this may be
because I've bought several cameras and accessories from them, but they are
basically nice people to deal with.
