Pretty cool stuff.

I like the use of universal joints to provide power to the front(?) wheels
so that the suspension can move the wheels up and down.

Here's the first LEGO model to be photographed by my new Nikon Coolpix • 990!

Not all the pictures are great (taken in somewhat low light, and they're
also the first pictures I've uploaded to my computer, so I'm not that • great
with the camera yet.)
Well, on to the model:
- fully motorized:  a geared motor drives the rear wheels,
and a micromotor turns the 40T gear which turns the entire
front section.  It's very slow, but it runs

- fiber optic "engine"

- airlock which opens underneath the model

- storage for four space suits.  You can see one of the
locker doors open in this pic:

- sleeping and living quarters for four (with top bunks that fold away)

  http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=19068
- fully detailed cockpit

- and of course, giant independently suspended wheels

(...) Thanks! (...) Rear wheels, actually. Maybe front would have pulled the model better. Right now, it's driven by a worm gear, but the gears still slip sometimes! On linoleum, the wheels slip when they turn, so the vehicle doesn't move. On carpet (...) (24 years ago, 2-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.space)
