I think I've figured it out, probably misnamed files from when my browser
crashed, again.
My messed up browser is attacking again,

What's with this???

Probably disk corruption. Try running scandisk. (It's also possible that the
files you saw were the _result_ of scandisk trying to fix said corruption.)

The files with LUGnet stuff probably were either from your web browser cache
(pre-corruption, I mean) or from your newsreader.
