Last month at least 5 out of 8 pictures in the Theme Gallery have been
stolen from known AFOLs. That has been discussed in Lugnet and can be • found
here:

I wrote 2 mails to TLC and got an answer, that they would react on it. But • now
the builder of the month is announced and you can see: nothing happened at • all!
A pirated picture has been voted and announced as winner for the Theme • Gallery.
http://www.lego.com/gallery/theme/

I'm really disappointed again about TLCs behaviour on this. They don't • want us
to pirate their pictures and most AFOLs do respect that, but vice versa?

What's your opinion on this?

Keep in mind that I Am Not A Lawyer :-)

In my opinion, since TLC was informed (and acknowledged such information)
about the nature of the photographs the AFOL's in question have a legitimate
reason for charging TLC with copyright violation.  Until the end of the
voting TLC could have claimed that they were "still working on it."  With
the voting over they cannot make that claim, as SOMEBODY had to setup the
new pages.

It would be interesting to find out if the AFOL's in question contacted TLC
about this.  If I recall correctly TLC doesn't have to act on third-party
info...it's up to the offended party to initiate action.  Even so, the
honorable thing to do would have been to act on Ben's information ASAP.  To
do otherwise is a poor reflection on TLC, but that seems to be a common
occurrence these days...

(...) Well, it is possible that they have set up a script that will automaticaly create that page, since there is no text that must be written or anything. Alan (24 years ago, 22-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)
